Telford Bus Group

Telford Bus Group was established in the early 1990s to bring together some preserved bus owners and local bus enthusiasts. The members comprise bus owners and supporters, some of who are actively involved in upkeep and restoration of vehicles, but most simply support the others' efforts by travelling to bus rallies or other events around the country in the summer months on our day trips. The membership have a general transport interest and our days out normally cater for this, taking in bus rallies, preserved railways or other transport-related or heritage events, also the occasional trip to a seaside destination.

We have members from all parts of the UK and even abroad! Our members' classic vehicles are regular supporters of the UK bus rally scene.

The Group has a special interest in the Bedford VAL coach (the only mass-produced twin-steer coach chassis)  - the Group has a number of members who own a VAL (or more!) and these make regular appearances at Rallies and Transport Shows around the country.

Types of vehicle currently used on our trips include:

1971 Daimler Fleetline (new to SELNEC, later Greater Manchester PTE)

1972 Bedford VAL70/Duple Viceroy 37 (new to Langley Coach Company, Slough) - currently off the road

1973 Leyland Leopard/Marshall (Midland Red type S27) - restored but currently off the road

We occasionally use other member's vehicles on our days out. Our Trips are open to all members and pick up in Telford, Brownhills, Pelsall, Walsall and other convenient places by arrangement. So if you live in any of these areas and would like an interesting day out in the summer - get in touch with us now!

Fund Raising

Telford Bus Group relies on donations for most of it's income. The Group has a Sales Stand which is taken to most bus rallies (where permitted) – this is our major fund-raising activity, so if you have any bus or railway bits and pieces destined for the bin, STOP – we can make use of them! Any donated items are much appreciated as every bit helps to keep our vehicles going.

We sell a huge range of second-hand magazines including Buses, Bus & Coach Preservation, Coach & Bus Week (CBW), Bus & Coach Professional, Coach Mart, Route One, Motor Industry Management, Preserved Bus, Bus & Coach Buyer, Bus Fayre, Railway Magazine, Steam Railway, Modern Railways, Modern Railways Pictorial, Classic Buses Focus, Classic Truck Focus, Classic & Commercial Vehicle, Rail, Rail Enthusiast, Traction, Steam World, Heritage Railway, Back Track, Rail Express, Model Rail, Model Engineer; we usually have a good selection of back-issues of these publications when we attend rallies.

We also sell photographs of buses, trucks, trains, trams, planes and ships - anything transport-related.

Please contact us if you wish to donate any items to our Sales Stand. Thank you!
